Here are some examples:
Spring 1994: The show predicts that columnist Jay
Mariotti's career would foul out.
Fall 1994: Mariotti has a well-publicized fit and
his career fouls out.
Spring 1993: Using the title "Make Room for Danny,"
the show depicts then-Rep. Dan Rostenkowski ending his career amid a
swirl of allegations of misdeeds.
Fall 1994:Rostenkowski, now under indictment, has
his political career ended by a swirl of allegations of misdeeds.
Spring 1993: The show depicts newly-elected Senator
Carol Moseley-Braun as ineffectual and selfish.
Spring 1994: Fresh-person Senator Carol
Moseley-Braun proves herself ineffectual and selfish.
Spring 1993: Show anchor Walter Jacobson-in the
throes of contract negotiations-asks the audience whether he should
stay at Channel 2 or move to Fox Channel 32. The crowd votes for 32.
In a video bit, cast members predict his salary will plummet.
Spring 1993: Shortly after the show, Walter goes to
Fox and takes a pay cut.
Spring 1992: Gridiron predicts Daley's third airport
will never be built.
Summer 1992: Daley whines that his airport project
is "Dead! Dead! Dead!"
Spring 1991: Gridiron-ites enact Fred Roti and his
cronies living it up in a posh prison downstate.
Summer 1992: The boys are in the can.
Spring 1990: The Gridiron Show presents "Cabrini
Green Acres" a skit in which Mr. Haney tries to sell Oliver and Lisa
an apartment in an up-and-coming Chicago neighborhood.
Winter 1991: The Ebony and Ivory radio show on
WLS-AM plays a satirical rap song "Cabrini Green Acres."
